What Is the St. Maarten Boardwalk?
The St. Maarten Boardwalk is the seaside promenade beside Great Bay Beach in Philipsburg. It is more of a promenade than a wooden boardwalk, with the beach on one side and the town on the other. This layout makes it possible to combine time on the sand with Front Street shopping, food and drinks, watersports, outdoor recreation and nearby landmarks.
Bobby’s Marina is a useful eastern-side landmark for visitors walking from the cruise port. Captain Hodge Pier marks the central waterfront, while Walter Plantz Square lies toward the western end. Along and near the promenade, visitors can also find the Boardwalk Sports Park, the Under SXM sculptures, Wathey Square and the Courthouse on Front Street.
